I have downloaded a trial copy of the latter and that doesn't work either! In most cases I get a black image with a pattern of coloured dots throughout. I'm basically using Photolab as if it were DXO PureRAW. Sometimes it will successfully export the file to LR but the file is corrupted, having a rectangular section of the image covered in a pattern of coloured parallel horizontal lines. I can watch the green progress bar cross the **Lightroom*** (see edit below) icon at the bottom of my screen, and it usually gets about half way across before turning red and giving up. Sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn't. I use Photolab as a plug-in extra, export to Photolab and then immediately export back to Lightroom. I have Photolab set to pre-process my files.
